In October 2021, the Region of Durham hosted its first Business Showcase event, a pilot initiative providing businesses the opportunity to showcase their products or solutions to the municipal sector. Regional staff attended to learn about participating businesses and their services or products. More than 50 businesses registered for the event and over 100 staff attended across the four day-event.

Overall, staff felt the presentations were informative. Feedback from businesses show the event was organized, easy to participate and a great opportunity to raise awareness of their product/services.

Common suggestions for future events were to communicate divisional goals/priorities to help businesses tailor their presentations appropriately, provide a more information of audience members so businesses have a better understanding of who they are presenting to, and to incorporate engagement opportunities between staff and businesses to build and strengthen networks.
