Westney Road Multi-Use Public Information Centre (PIC)
This project was initiated by the Regional Municipality of Durham with consultation from the Town of Ajax with engineering services provided by R.J. Burnside and Associates Ltd.
Project Overview
Project Limits: Kingston Road West to Magill Drive
Proposed Features:
Multi-use path (MUP): 2.4 to 3.5 metres wide.
Crossride treatments: At intersections and entrances.
Connectivity: Opportunities to connect to existing active transportation (AT) facilities.
Pedestrian ramps: Upgrade existing ramps.
Development of Preliminary Designs
Step 1: Site visit to document existing conditions.
Step 2: Initiate supporting investigations.
Step 3: Complete facility selection.
Step 4: Determine which boulevard to place multi-use path.
Step 5: Draft layout and typical sections.
Opportunities
Connection to existing and proposed multi-use path.
Connection to Trans Canada Trail.
Connection to Great Lakes Waterfront Trail.
Upgrade existing facility to meet Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act standards for pedestrian ramps.
