Consultation has concluded
A recording of the Beaverton Supportive Housing Virtual Public Information Session will be available online shortly.
On October 29, the Region hosted a virtual public information session to gather more input.
For the virtual session, Regional staff provided an overview of the Beaverton Housing project, and residents of north Durham registered for a time to speak to a panel of Regional staff that includes:
Stella Danos-Papaconstantinou, Commissioner of Social Services
Alan Robins, Director of Housing
Jenni Demanuele, Director of Business Services
The session was live streamed and each person was given three minutes to address the panel. Representatives of groups were allotted five minutes to speak.
Public were asked to register to address the panel by October 27 at noon.
We need more social supports in north Durham.
Durham Region's new Supportive Housing Project, to be located at 133 Main Street in Beaverton, will consist of a 50-unit apartment building, as well as a separate building, offering support services to residents who live on-site, as well as the greater north Durham community.
Durham Region is asking for feedback from the Brock Township community as it plans to bring additional support services to north Durham. The services will be connected to the new housing project planned in Beaverton. They will serve both the broader community and residents of the development. The services will range from medical care, mental health counselling, financial assistance, rental support, seniors support and more.
This project provides the opportunity to create efficiencies in the provision of support services in the north that will benefit all residents.
