FAQs
Who is leading this project?
This is a joint Regional project between Durham Region and Durham Regional Local Housing Corporation, with Infrastructure Ontario providing realty and design expertise. We will be bringing on technical experts as necessary, to help make this project happen. Bousfields Inc. (www.bousfields.ca) is leading the community engagement work.
What properties are being redeveloped and why?
Durham Region has a mandate to deliver a minimum of 1,000 new rental affordable housing units in Durham in 2024. As part of the strategy to achieve these goals, the Region is committed to the redevelopment and revitalization of some existing Durham Regional Local Housing Corporation properties to increase capacity and create mixed-income communities. The project will modernize and increase the housing options for the Region.
Communities to be redeveloped during the first phase: Malaga Road & Christine Crescent.
When is this project happening?
