The Region of Durham is building a new long-term care home in the City of Pickering, with support from the Province of Ontario. This new 200-bed home, named “Seaton Village,” is located in the Seaton community, between Brock Road and Whites Road in Pickering.
Seaton Village is owned and operated by the Region of Durham and projected to open in late 2026. It will feature:
A dementia-friendly design.
24-hour nursing care provided by Registered Nurses, Registered Practical Nurses and Personal Support Workers.
Dedicated Medical Director, Physicians, Infection Control Nurse and Registered Dietitian on site.
Exercise and group therapy programs, led by an Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist and Adjuvants, to help residents maintain mobility and quality of life.
Social and therapeutic programming, such as crafts, cards, bingo, church services, special occasion and theme parties.
Counselling and psychosocial support for residents and caregivers.
Nutritious meals.
Social spaces, hair salon, bank, store, multi-faith space and more for residents to enjoy.

The naming process involved a focus group and an online poll to gather input from Pickering residents. Nearly 500 residents participated in this online poll and on September 25, 2024, Durham Regional Council approved the name “Seaton Village.” Thank you to everyone who took part. We look forward to continuing our journey towards building a complete and supportive community in Seaton.
