Strategic Plan 2020-2024

Durham Region recently updated our Strategic Plan to reflect the issues and priorities that matter most to our community. We invite you to take a look at the digital version here.

Why is a Strategic Plan important?

The Strategic Plan is our community vision and blueprint. It helps us define a set of common goals, and prioritize those things that matter most to you, our residents. We want to deliver services to the community in an effective way, and modernize our operations so that we are working efficiently and maintaining a high standard of customer service. The health and prosperity of our community is important to every single resident. That’s why we need a step-by-step plan that outlines how we will accomplish these goals. Not only will we strive to meet these goals, but we will measure our performance along the way and report back to Regional Council and the community, to ensure we are on the right track.

What opportunities were provided for citizens to get involved?

There were many ways we gathered input from the community to help us develop the new Durham Region Strategic Plan 2020-2024. We heard from residents and community organizations at a number of events throughout the Summer and Fall of 2019. We launched a community survey, held pop-up discussions at community gatherings across the Region, and hosted a series of Town Hall discussions to learn more about what matters most to you. We want to thank the hundreds of residents and community groups that came out to share their ideas and concerns. We heard you, and appreciate your input!

Participation paid off for Michael Cheung of Pickering, who took the time to complete our Strategic Plan Community Survey by the deadline of noon on September 30, 2019. His name was pulled from all eligible prize entries and Michael won an Ecobee 4 Smart Home Thermostat!
